Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. With a deep-rooted love for family law, Ashley's current legal practice is focused on a variety of aspects of family matters. She concentrates her practice on divorce cases, alimony issues, marital property division child custody battles, and child support arrangements. She also deals with post-divorce and enforcement issues as well as step-parent adoptions, private adoptions for parties as well as concerns about child welfare. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since 2019. She assists parties in resolving their disputes without the need for court or litigation involvement. Ashley mediates private cases as well as court-appointed mediation for those who wish to avoid litigation and court processes.
After completing her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she earned two Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. When she graduated in 2013, she excelled in her studies, placing among the top 10 students in her class. While at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review, showcasing her commitment to legal scholarship and research.
Ashley began her clerkship career after she completed her law degree. She was employed by renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to be serving as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned to her hometown of Hagerstown to be a clerk for Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, deepening her understanding of the local legal landscape. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her main focus within the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases dealing with child welfare. Ashley's dedication to her work played a significant role in helping children who were victims of neglect or abuse at hands their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social injustice extended beyond her legal career when she was a member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to educate the public about human trafficking in the tri-state region.
In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the area of family law - divorce custody, child support and guardianships - aswell as estate planning - wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies - and mediation.
Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023 with the commitment to provide a customized approach to each client's need.
