THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly hails from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a deep-rooted passion for family law, Ashley's current legal practice is centered around a variety of aspects of family-related matters. She concentrates a large portion of her practice in divorce cases, alimony disputes divorce property distribution, child custody battles, child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, enforcement and post-divorce issues, step-parent and private party adoptions and child welfare concerns. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as trusts, wills and probate and estate administration along with commercial contracts, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been as a mediator appointed by the court since 2019, assisting parties in helping them resolve their matters without needing to litigate or court involvement. Ashley mediates private disputes and also court-appointed mediations for people who want to stay clear of the court process and litigation.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. Then, she pursued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. Graduating in 2013, she excelled academically, placing among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was a Note Editor for the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This demonstrates her dedication to scholarship and legal research.

After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship, working for distinguished jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate enough to serve as a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. Then, in 2014 she returned to her home town of Hagerstown to work as a clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, further enhancing her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Learn more about Ashley Wilburn

In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. The primary goal of the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters involving child welfare. Ashley's dedicated efforts contributed greatly to helping children who suffered neglect or abuse at of their caregivers or parents. Her commitment to social injustice went beyond her legal profession as she served as a member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to educate the public about human trafficking within the tri-state region.

In 2017 she was a founding member at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and developed her expertise in family law including divorce, custody and child maintenance, as well as guardianships and financial and estate planning, wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy and mediation.

Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023, with the goal of providing a customized approach to each client's need.
